Impressive Display by Nadal on Center Court

Swedish Open

The Spanish youngster Rafael Nadal reached the quarterfinal of Synsam Swedish Open, after dispatching Albert Portas in straight sets.

Nadal got off to a great start and made it difficult for the 13 year older countryman to find any rhythm at all. After a mere 25 minutes, Nadal had won the first set without losing a game. In the second set, Portas began to display the delicate drop shots that have made him known as the Drop Shot Dragon. Nadal kept on playing with the same intensity as in the beginning, but was now facing a well playing opponent. It was not until the tenth game that Nadal could break Portas serve and secure the victory.

This is the first time that Nadal has reached the quarterfinal of an event on the ATP level. But he has won two matches in the same event at three previous occasions in Monte Carlo, Hamburg and at Wimbledon just recently.
