Rafael Nadal and Feliciano L�pez, two youngsters who have recently proved at Wimbledon that they are going to be big names, will contend today the final of the Campeonato de Espa�a de tenis.
The Mallorcan won his spot by defeating, with certain difficulties, Fernando Verdasco, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. The Toledan (L�pez) had an easier road as Clavet could not compete because of a gastroenteritis.
So the day only saw the duel between Nadal and Verdusco. The latter had the match in the bag. He won the first set 7-5 and was leading 4-1 with his turn to serve in the second. At that moment, incomprehensibly, he lost his focus. Nadal, who was not going to give up, strung six games together to take the second set 6-4.
In the third, Rafael started out with all guns blazing: 4-2, but then yet another change of direction turned up. Verdasco held serve and then broke his opponent's serve to tie at 4-4. When everyone assumed this reaction was opening the road to success, he stepped on the brake again. Nadal, (17) as if used to solving difficult problems on the court, won the two last games to take the match home.
